How You Can Help?

We accept donations of toiletries, supermarket/fuel vouchers, and clothing vouchers all year round. Have a household item, clothing, bedding, gym gear, or a bike to donate?

Step 1: Get in touch with us first so we can confirm it’s currently needed.
Step 2: We'll let you know the best drop off point for your donation.
Step 3: Drop it in (with the special code word), and continue your day being awesome.

All donations must be in very clean and tidy condition out of respect for Whaiora and their Whanau.

We communicate via our Facebook page, or you can email us direct.

Who We Help

The tāne we support have experienced adversity and challenges in their lives. Many of them attend courses at He Waka Tapu that include themes such as stopping violence in relationships, building confidence and self-esteem, stopping smoking, alcohol and drug education, health and fitness, and developing social support.

Services are delivered using a kaupapa Māori framework encompassing Tinana (physical wellbeing), Wairua (spiritual wellbeing), Hinengaro (mental wellbeing), and Whānau (family wellbeing).

Why We Help

The Brotherhood supports tāne so they can participate meaningfully in their community. Tāne can feel pride in their appearance, and have resources to attend courses, training, and job interviews, thanks to your donations. It also demonstrates to tāne that there is a community that cares about them and wants them to succeed. This is empowering. Kindness prevents prejudice, and provides a platform for people to learn about others.

"Having an essential item gifted to me, meant I could continue my journey of balancing my Whare Tapa Wha by getting out in the community and completing programmes to remain abstinent."

Whaiora He Waka Tapu

The tāne were blown away by the generosity of it all. They managed to get clothes that they liked and also fitted them. They commented that they didn't feel judged, which is a big thing for some of our tāne.
